\n \n Achieving a Def Leppard Tone?
\n Ok so i’ve been listening to Def Leppard a lot recently, and i’ve just fallen in love with their tone and i am seriously considering trying to aim for that kinda tone for my own tone (if that makes sense)
So what would i need to achieve that kinda tone, as this is something that will undoubtedly take years to achieve would be great if people could suggest a long term gear set (Like a cab and head for example) and a short term gear set (like a Valve combo for example), i know that i’m gonna need a Les Paul for that tone, i’m already looking for LP’s with thinner necks (i made a topic about it a few days ago actually)

to get roughly into the ballpark, though, something hot rod marshally or soldanoey (amp) combined with a superstrat with a bridge humbucker will probably get you fairly close, at least for phil collen.

Well i’m not gonna be going the rack amps etc. route i aint that big also there’s something nice about a actual physical amp rather than a rack, although i love using technology to make music better and easier (in terms of transporting) i always think of guitarists as having a amp and head or combo, just kinda fits my idea

После выхода альбома Def Leppard завоевывает аудиторию США и отправляется в гастрольный тур в поддержку пластинки.
В августе 1987 года вышел новый альбом «Hysteria», и несмотря на то что песни к пластинке были готовы значительно раньше, группа была вынуждена откладывать релиз и концертный тур в поддержку «Истерии» из-за пострадавшего в автокатастрофе ударника.
Практически сразу началась работа и над пятым альбомом – Def Leppard опасались большого перерыва. Ситуацию усугублял Стив Кларк, который вовсю пристрастился к алкоголю и наркотикам. В 1991 году Кларк скончался, что стало сильным ударом для поклонников Def Leppard. Но группа продолжила работу над альбомом, и в 1992 году музыкальная общественность увидела «Adrenalize».
Конец 90-х прошел для группы без особых проблем – коллектив активно гастролировал, и на концертах залы (и стадионы) были всегда переполнены фанатами.
Начиная с 2000 года музыкальный стиль группы изменился в сторону гранжа, и несмотря на хорошее восприятие новых пластинок группы, Def Leppard уже не имеют такой популярности, как в пиковые годы.

The album features touched-up versions of B-sides and previously unreleased recordings from the band’s recording sessions between 1984 and 1993. The album charted at number 9 on The Billboard 200 and No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart.
After releasing only four albums over the course of a decade, Def Leppard used Retro Active to break that habit, provide a treat for diehard fans, and close the door on the «Steve Clark» era of the band. It reached platinum sales in many countries.[citation needed]
Although many tracks were found on single releases, some parts were re-recorded on the road during the Adrenalize tour.
«She’s Too Tough» and the electric version of «Miss You in a Heartbeat» were originally released as bonus tracks for the Japanese pressing of Adrenalize.
Two unfinished songs from the Hysteria recording sessions, «Desert Song» and «Fractured Love», were completed exclusively for the album. «Two Steps Behind», an acoustic ballad originally recorded in electric version, was given strings by conductor Michael Kamen and included onto the Last Action Hero soundtrack. It would become the band’s last Top 20 single in the US, reaching No. 12.
The album also had covers, Sweet’s «Action» (which charted higher than the original in the UK) and Mick Ronson’s «Only After Dark». Although guitarist Phil Collen had written «Miss You in a Heartbeat», it was released first on the self-titled 1991 debut by The Law, a band featuring Paul Rodgers and The Who drummer Kenney Jones.
The version of «Ride into the Sun» is not the version that appeared on The Def Leppard E.P., but rather the 1987 re-recording. It differs slightly from the version of the recording used as a B-side in the Hysteria era, though. The one used as a B-side had a Rick Allen drum solo intro, whereas this one has a piano intro provided by Ian Hunter.
Retro Active features a hidden (final) track: a piano/vocal version of «Miss You in a Heartbeat».
This is the first Def Leppard album to feature songs recorded with newly added guitarist Vivian Campbell.

eighth studio album by English rock band Def Leppard, released in 2002 by Island Records. Much like 1996’s Slang, it featured another departure from their signature sound by moving into the pop genre. The album charted at No. 11 on The Billboard 200 and No. 14 on the UK Albums Chart.[2] Most of the album was produced by Pete Woodroffe and the band, with remaining tracks produced by either Marti Frederiksen or Per Aldeheim and Andreas Carlsson. This is the first Def Leppard album in which drummer Rick Allen actively took part in song-writing. On all of the band’s prior albums, he is only credited with helping co-write 3 tracks. On this album alone, he co-wrote 11.
The album features the Roman numeral ‘X’, recognising it as their tenth album release, although the album is in fact only their eighth collection of all-new studio material. The other two albums released by the band prior to the release of X, Retro Active and Vault, were a rerecording of B-sides and rarities and a greatest hits set respectively.
The album peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200, but did not sell to the standards of their previous releases and failed to earn any RIAA certifications. Nothing from this album had been performed live by the band since the conclusion of its supporting tour until the ‘Rock of Ages’ tour of 2012 during which the opening track «Now» was performed acoustically.
For a short time after the album was released, Def Leppard’s website Defleppard.com featured a free mp3 download of the song «Perfect Girl» this was in fact a very early version of the track «Gravity»
